Michelle Engel Bencsko's gorgeous "Beyond the Sea" organic fabric was definitely the inspiration for this design. When I saw her modern beach themed fabric I immediately knew I wanted to try out some wavy curved piecing. It was a little scary trying something new with such beautiful fabric but I'm so thrilled with how it turned out.
I spend a lot of time at the beach with my family and although its winter at the moment, it was lovely enjoying our local beach (a short walk away) while taking these photos. My sweet mother in law quickly pointed out that this quilt would be absolutely perfect living at their home which directly overlooks the beach. I had to agree as they really do have wonderful "sea views" (although this one will be difficult to let go of).
So would you like to make your own "Sea Views?" Well... Cloud9 Fabrics is very generously giving away two fat quarter bundles of their exquisite "Beyond the Sea" fabric! If you haven't tried organic cotton you're missing out. Not only is it better for the environment, but it feels and looks just wonderful.
Cloud9 and I are both hosting giveaways. Two lucky winners will receive my pdf pattern as well as 10 fat quarters (enough to make all of the wavy blocks in the quilt)! To enter just leave a comment on my blog telling me about a favourite holiday spot. As for me, I have wonderful childhood memories of spending my summers at Kingston Caravan Park in Adelaide by the beach. We would run around with the other children all day, getting sunburnt, and then in the evening we'd watch movies projected onto a big screen and eat lollies. Pure bliss.
After you've told me about your holiday spot, head over to Michelle's blog for a second chance to win. And while you're there take a look at the gorgeous "Forest Friends Flannel" that will be coming out very soon. We will each randomly pick a winner on Tuesday Aug 10th. It's open internationally so anyone can enter, just make sure we have a way to contact you. Good luck! Comments now closed. Thanks!
By the way, the pattern is now available as an instant download from my downloadable patterns page. 20% off while the giveaway is running (I'll reimburse the winners). A limited number of kits and patterns will be available from Cloud9 Fabrics in a few days.

I love it so much and I think the quilting is awesome!
ReplyDeleteFavourite holiday spot ... well Kingston caravan park with the beach the movies and lollies (didn't enjoy the sunburn :) is right up there, but I also enjoyed our family holidays to Sydney and the Blue Mountains too. Really ... any holiday with family.

The best holiday location was working on the farm near the Nelson Lakes National Park in New Zealand. There were animals, diggers, target shooting, long walks and cold mutton ham with tomato sauce. Prefect I hope to do the same for my daughter.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't truly vacation much, we mostly visited family. But we lived in NY when I was small so we went to Niagra Falls a lot, and we had a favorite relaxing vacation at a resort (I guess?) on a lake (I think?) in Ontario.
ReplyDeleteLater this month my family (with boys 3 and 1) is meeting my brother's family (with a boy 2) at the beach in NC, so I'm hoping for a new favorite tradition!

My favorite holiday spot would be in a small town near Avignon, South France (Buis les Baronnies). I used to work there for six months and even though it was winter at the end and raining the whole day long, it always felt like I was on vacation. And I was very sad to leave even though it meant spending the next few months in Paris :)
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday spot would be somewhere with mountains and waterfalls!

I've been to the beach three times this year...an all-time high for me! Once to the Southern Oregon coast, once to the Central Oregon coast, and once to Bermuda (for our daughter's wedding!). Of the three, I currently choose Bermuda as a favorite vacation spot. Turquoise waters different than any I've seen in other tropical destinations, beautiful scenery all around, and some of the friendliest, most accommodating people I've encountered!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting the giveaway! Beautiful fabrics, and your work is inspiring.
My favorite vacation has been the driving trips I have taken with my husband. One was the coast from San Diego to San Francisco and the other was cross country from Chicago to San Diego. Something about the driving and talking (with no kiddie interruptions) that is just calming and fun. Gives us a chance to connect with each other while enjoying the sights.
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is amazing. I've only made one but this one seems amazing. I'm thinking it would be a great 35th wedding anniversary present for my parents next year. They have lived in San Diego for 20+ years.
Marlene (malterio24@gmail.com)

ReplyDeleteblessed.mama4 at yahoo dot com
My favorite spot for vacation is Black Butte Ranch in Sisters, OR. I love the mountains, the wildlife, and the peacefulness of swinging in a hammock reading a book, or riding the bike trails.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful quilt!! My favorite holiday spot, as cliche as it sounds, would be anywhere my family is. We moved around a lot in my childhood, so there weren't many things that remained the same year after year, but I love that the sites and smells could be recreated wherever we are!
ReplyDeletemy2sweetthings (at) yahoo.com
I'd rather like to go back to Agrigento, in Sicily, and walk around temples all day, then have dinner at a really fun restaurant... (but having only been there once, does it really qualify?). I love your beachy quilt!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful. My favorite holiday spot is Hawaii. The north shores of Oahu is gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteLove your quilt! The design is awesome. I love to go camping with my family. For just my husband and I, I would have to say Hawaii. We have been once and it was heaven.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt - I love the curvy blocks and the movement they give to the quilt.
ReplyDeleteRight this minute, I'm longing to go to Cannon Beach, Oregon, or the west side of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, or Nantucket. I have thoroughly enjoyed vacations at each of these spots and would love to go again.
Cheers!
This is beautiful! We always went to the same vacation spot - a small cabin in the Okanagan with a private beach. We did lots of skiing and tubing, and always had a fantastic time. I hope to find a place like that to return to each year with my kids.

A few years ago my husband's grandparents had a family reunion camping on the beach in Northern California. We got to go to see the Redwoods as well, so that has been our best vacation in quite some time. I have been wanting to make a beach-themed quilt for a while, but it has yet to come about. Yours is wonderful! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough, my favourite holiday spot is right near you. Pearl Beach, gorgeous little village, great beach. I love it so much we got married there too!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday spot is definitely Honolulu, Hawaii!
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt! Care to tell us beginners how you made the cute wavy lines?
We live in Hawaii, so of course we love the beach. When we lived on the mainland our fav spot was San Diego. It was a quick drive from home and it felt like a world away from LA.
ReplyDeleteI adore this quilt that you've made with Michelle's lovely fabric, and the photos are just stunning!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vacation spot is probably one of my local beaches (Rosario Beach) on Deception Pass in Washington State. The tidepools are amazing, and the sea is fresh and lovely. I could spend an eternity there!
My favorite vacation spot is the Oregon Coast- in November no less! We have been to the Lincoln City area several times to storm watch, snuggle, read and walk on the nearly empty beaches. The roar of the ocean and calls of the seagulls broken by bits of laughter as the family reconnects appreciating the simpler things!!
ReplyDeleteI *love* the addition of the brown to this quilt!!

My favorite vacation spot is Kauai! I live on Oahu, but Kauai is so country in comparison, has beautiful sights & a really cool quilt shop
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this quilt! My favorite family vacation spot is Cherry Grove, SC in North Myrtle Beach. We have vacation there for a long time, some years with lots of family and some years with just the three of us. Cherry Grove brings many special memories to mind, especially spending such quality time at the beach with such a special family!
ReplyDeleteMy father is a marathoner and we were always told as kids that we could go anywhere we wanted for vacation as long as there was a marathon for dad to run. We got to see some great cities and didn't even mind getting up at 5am to watch dad run. Those are the best vacation memories I have.
ReplyDeleteIt's not really so much a favorite vacation spot, however when I was in Young Women's and we'd do girls camp, it was always this camp that was in Pocahontas State Park (Chesterfield, Virginia in the US is where it's located) and out of the five years that I went to camp there, I was assigned to the EXACT same cabin for four of those years.. I had to miss one year for some reason, and one of those years I was living in a different stake, so I went with them there too.
ReplyDeleteWhat was so cool about that particular cabin is that sometime back when the Beatles were insanely popular, some people or one person took chalk and drew each letter out between the rafters... they had to be about 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide letters. It was pretty awesome! I even managed to sleep in the same exact bunk every year as well.
I always enjoy going to France: It is not that far from Denmark (about 900 miles), so we have often gone there by car. Last year we visited the south and Provence for the first time, but the farthes west, Brittany, is so lovely too!!

Daniela from France
I loved the way that turned out!! With the pictures of the beach in the background, it makes me think of Canon Beach, Oregon--a favorite beach for a vacation. They have a great quilt shop there, too!

ReplyDeleteThe boundary waters in northern Minnesota. We went there every summer as a kid and spent the whole time at the lake shore. It is just so peaceful and mellow.

ReplyDeleteMy favourite holiday spot as a child was staying with my grandparents, at Tylney Hall in Hampshire, England, where my grandfather was a gardener. I would wander around in the woods for hours, or go find my grandfather in one of the greenhouses.
ReplyDeleteI have wonderful family memories of camping with our extended family as a kid. it was the only time we were all together in the whole year and it was special.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment I'm sitting in the airport waiting for my visit ever visit to the U.S. to commence. I'm off to hang out with Ewan for a couple of weeks. I love anywhere warm, luckily it's summer in the U.S. xo

ReplyDeleteRight now my favorite vacation spot is Huntington Lake (California), 7,000 foot elevation. Gorgeous, peaceful and quiet. This quilt would fit right in...
ReplyDeleteThis quilt would be perfect for sitting outside in the porch swing at my parents' old house on the river. During the winter the wind whips in and it can get chilly. I loved the peaceful charm of vacations spent there, and even like my weekly day trip to "work" on the place.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday vacation spot is the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Whenever we'd find ourselves at Grandmother and Granddaddy's, we'd make sure to load up the car for a day in the mountains. Before leaving the city we'd stop by Krispy Kreme Donuts and get a couple dozen hot off the conveyor belts, then within the hour we'd be set up by one of the streams. The grownups would sit around reading and talking, and the children would jump from boulder to boulder over the cool, refreshing water. Ahh bliss...
ReplyDeleteI have to go with the beach. I love the Outer Banks in North Carolina!! I love your quilt, that fabric is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWe never went on many holidays except to visit family, but my favourite holiday spot was Tofino.
ReplyDeleteikkinlala AT yahoo DOT ca
Dunbogan on the NSW coast..a peaceful beachside village...we caught yabbies, fished, swam & played on the sand year after year! Special memories of family times!
ReplyDeleteOh I think my favorite place to spend my summer days would be any deserted beach that I could relax reading a book while listening to the sounds of the waves, cries of the seagulls and feel of the warm sand underfoot. sigh...lovely just thinking about it!
ReplyDeleteHoliday spot would be at home with my hubby and 2 yr old son whom will be turning 3 around Christmas on the 22nd. Just to be cozy in our own home would be enough for me these days.
ReplyDeleteLovely! My favorite spot is on the central CA coast in Cambria. It is so hot here in the summer, and it so lovely to go someplace cool and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe just spent a week on the Oregon Coast. Growing up in the South the only beaches I knew were warm and sunny. I enjoyed the Oregon Coast so much more because it is so different than the Gulf Coast.

I don't really have a favourite spot. My favourite vacation is the camping trip my husband and I take every summer with our friends. We go to a different spot each year, but it is the most fun and something we look forward to every year.
ReplyDeleteBRITBABY13@hotmail.com
My favorite holiday spot is sking out west (states) around the Christmas season! I love the snow and lights! I hope I win! Love your design!
ReplyDeleteI love it Kate!!!! The simple(?)wavey lines look awesome.
ReplyDeleteMy fav holidays were when we went to Ayers Rock as it was called in those days. We went 4 times when I was a kid - each time we climbed the rock, I don't think you can do that anymore. The first time we went we stayed in the old hotels, not all that nice, but at the new site we could only afford the caravan park. It is certainly an amazing place to visit.
I just love the look of this quilt. Just beautiful and you did a great job with the waves look to it. My favorite vacation spot is taking a long relaxing road trip with my husband anywhere that fills my qualification of getting away. My current favorite is Door County Wisconsin because of all the awesome little shops they have there.
ReplyDeleteI love going to Noosa, Queensland for a couple of days. It's just a few hours drive for us, so the little one doesn't get bored. Once there we laze about swimming, taking walks in the National Park and along the beaches and eating lots of gelato! Once on an evening beach walk we came across the most amazingly beautiful sandcastle filled with candles it was like something out of a dream. A local man builds them for tips. What a way to earn a living :)
ReplyDeletedollybirdblythe@yahoo.com.au
That's a difficult question. I love to travel so it's hard. I really fell in love with Port Douglas in Queensland, Australia when I was there last year. It's a great place to relax and have a holiday. But if I'm traveling, which I think is much different than taking a holiday, Vietnam was pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteGosh, how generous!!! I LOVE your ocean waves quilt and would absolutely make it - I've even got some experience with freeform curves and would be so excited to do them again....in fact I am in my fav vacation spot right now! My family is here at my parent's cottage on the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Canada. It is a finger of land jutting out into Lake Huron, with the big lake right outside the window on my left and over on the other side of the peninsula is the stunning Georgian Bay with its crystal clear water and limestone cliffs. Love.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being so generous!!!
I can't say I have one favorite spot but I do love the BC Provincial parks!

Oh Kate, your quilt is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI know this is going to sound sill, but my favourite holiday spot is sitting at home in front of my sewing machine! I haven't vacationed many places because I've never really been able to afford it, but I think I'd love to spend a holiday in England.
what a wonderful quilt pattern!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday spot is the beach, specifically the one on the gulf coast of very south florida where my husband has gone since he was a little boy. I love the still water, the heat of the sun, the soft sand. it's perfection!

ReplyDeleteWow these are wonderful fabrics, I would so love to win them! I think our family's favorite spot to chillax is this wonderful state park near us, called Letchworth State Park, in Livingston County NY. ReplyDeleteTravelling...well...I do love to travel! I absolutely fell in love with NYC but for a more quiet location I'm a huge fan of Maui. Oh to be on the beach right now...watching a sunset would be grand! :) I also highly recommend Tofino, British Columbia, Canada - ahhh...the natural hot springs location is fantastic!!
Ah, your quilt is just gorgeous, and what a fantastic giveaway too!

ReplyDeleteGreat Giveaway KATE... xxx
what a beautiful quilt - your mil is very lucky! my favourite childhood holiday was spending time at my grandparents house in lyme regis in dorset in the UK. There are some great fossil hunting beaches close by.
ReplyDeleteKate it looks beautiful! I love the soft calming colours. Every year my family and I fly to Perth to spend Christmas with the rest of the family and although it is nothing like Melbourne, I love the beaches and just spending time relaxing with our family. Thanks for the chance, crossing my fingers!
ReplyDeleteI really can't think of a favourite place but we did spend a lot of time as children at Mannering Park where my parents kept a caravan, mainly fishing and swimming.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say how beautiful the quilt looks finished. I wandered into your blog through Ally of Sunshine and Stitching.

When I was young our family would always go on rode trips to see other states. I haven't seen them all but I am still trying. 2 years ago DH & I went to Kentucky. It is beautiful. Love the white fences for the horses that are around the homes.
ReplyDeleteMy most favorite Holiday Spot ever is Martha's Vineyard (off the cost of Cape Cod)! Not the touristy spots, but the "off the beaten path" lovely cove beach where we love to relax and sunbathe and take long walks on the beach! And not far from the beach is where a Grandma and her Granddaughter make the most delicious berry pies and sell them from a small stand in Grandma's front yard...yummmm!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful quilt! I've never had a vacation. Growing up we only ever spent time with family and now it's the same ;) I do love our 'staycations' though, and how fun it is discovering new places and activities in your own town!

My favourite holiday spot is a little town called Osoyoos, British Columbia - it's in the only desert in Canada. I have been vacationing there with my family since I was 3 (about 45 years). We still go every year, and although the town has changed and grown, it's still a ton of fun - watersports, sunbathing, reading, relaxing! Your quilt(s)are gorgeous! Thanks for such a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt! My favorite place to vacation is Hawaii! My husband and I went for our honeymoon last year and I'd love to go back!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt and the photos - the colours of the quilt and the beach and sea go so well. My favourite holiday spot is a beach too - whilst I have enjoyed my beach time Down Under, my very most favourite has to be from my childhood - my great granny lived on the seafront at Instow, North Devon, it was a very short step to the beautiful sandy beach. Worst bit was get all the sand washed off in the bathroom by the front door!
ReplyDeleteI have a couple, but one of them is the christmas tree farm near where I used to live. Always sparks the holiday spirit when we go there to cut a tree.
ReplyDeletemy holiday spot is any where with a view and a good book
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday place is Charleston, SC, USA! We have spent the last six Thanksgiving holidays there and between the ocean beaches the flowers, and the architecture it's an amazing place.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding quilt, Kate! You have captured the beach colors perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI love to travel, but my favorite getaway is always our little beach cottage in Seaside, Oregon. My family had a beach house growing up, so I've spent most of my life enjoying weekends and summers at the beach. A lifetime of wonderful memories with family and friends.
i love your quilting that you often hand quilt and machine quilt. I have just done a quilt with that idea as well and i LOVE IT., LOVE THE WAVING ONE AS WELL.my favorite holiday is out to Mara lake in BC CANADA. there is something soothing about the water. thanks Sandi
ReplyDeleteThis fabric is truly inspiring, and so is your quilt.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday spot is near family. Sometimes thats in the rain, sometimes in the sun, sometimes in the snow, but the more family the better.
My most recent favorite vacation spot was Laconia, New Hampshire. Cute little lake resort town with an old drive in theater, and Funspot - home to an amazingly thorough collection of classic arcade games.
ReplyDeleteWe used to go to a little village in Cornwall with seaweed all over the beach and ice cold sea - every day we were allowed an ice cream and, on the last day, we were allowed a double cone!
ReplyDeleteRight now we are in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and it is definitely one of my favorite spots! The quilt is absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAbney.Ellie@gmail.com
I have fond memories of Austin, Texas & Portland, Oregon. Beautiful cities with great people!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks absolutely gorgeous, by the way!

I love your quilting. The wavy lines add even more motion to the quilt :) It's awesome! We live between Washington DC and Gettysburg, and have wonderful campgrounds. So we beat (or try to) the heat waves by heading to the mountains to hike or camp.
ReplyDeletensue21702 at gmail dot com
wow I would love to learn how to quilt wavy pieces =). my favorite holiday spot is on the northern california coast in the winter - the beaches are peaceful and empty, great hiking along the bluffs that drop off right next to the ocean, drinking cocoa in an oceanfront rental after the long hikes with my family. thanks for the giveaway! leung_rita at hotmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI love vacationing in the north woods of Minnesota on a lake.
ReplyDeleteAm just about to bind my first quilt and am already hooked! Your designs have given me lots of inspiration and are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite holiday spot as a kid was caravanning in the middle of a British forest and all the freedom it offered a young child. Am about to try to recreate this with our first family camping trip - this time with me as the Mum and next to secluded sand dunes...
I love, love, love that quilt and the fabric is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI can never, ever, not live close to the beach...........It's soothing to me.
Kate, your quilt is gorgeous - the quilting is perfect! My hubby and I love to go anywhere there is a beach - Gulf Shores, Alabama, anywhere in Hawaii, the Outer Banks in North Carolina, even once a beach in Ireland (I think it was called Inch!) It's where we are happiest.... So I'd love a chance to win these gorgeous fabrics and your pattern! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday place is Jacksonville Beach, FL in the winter. I have never tried organic cotton fabric just organic batting. Would love to win.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up we always went to Mackinaw Island there are no cars on the island, you either ride bikes or ride in a horse drawn carriage and the fudge is so yummy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win such beautful fabric.
Lovely pattern!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in playing lots of sports so my favorite summer spot was sitting at the ball park with friends and family and enjoying a cool summer evening.
It turned out beautifully! The wave across the back is great, too. My favorite holiday spot isn't really a particular spot... for vacations my family and I would always pack into our camper and head out to a Texas State Park (for a weekend getaway) or a U.S. National Park (for a longer trip), so most of my vacation memories are of hiking or riding bikes in trails around lakes and eating charcoal-grilled burgers and peach cobbler cooked in a cast-iron dutch oven over the fire — and s'mores!
ReplyDeleteMy childhood memories of holiday in Sandycove near Skibereen in West Cork. We ran around the fields, the cliffs and on the beach. Remember walking miles to get to the local shop to get ice lolly's.
ReplyDeleteLove you pattern and the colors in the fabric.
Leona
You know something is beautifully designed and made when it takes you to a special place and reminds you of childhood, adolescent and adult beachy places. My favourite beach holiday memories are of Coles Bay on the Freycinet Peninsula. As a child we went with family and friends and doused ourselves in calamine lotion for our sunburn in the evenings while we got to snuggle under quilts and watch videos while our parents cracked a chardy or 3. As teenagers, I remember going with school friends and boys who were the object of my attention. As an adult I have shared many memories at Wineglass Bay with my darling husband. As a parent, I love sharing the joy of walking on squeaky white sand and looking at the amazing granite mountains and celebrating the joy of family life and the precious moments of freedom on family holidays. Thank you Kate for making something beautiful which reminds me of all of these favourite things x
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say Prince Edward Island
ReplyDeletethe beaches there are long and empty.
My favourite holiday spot is North Devon, here in the UK. The beaches are great for relaxing, walking, surfing, kiting, enjoying.... I head straight to the beach any chance I get! Thanks for the chance to win :-)
ReplyDeletekiffyandkez@btinternet.com
My favorite spot is Malaysia, off one of those islands where you can scuba dive three times a day. The water is so clean and the coral is absolutely amazing in its vibrant colors.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! Especially the back.
ReplyDeleteOpposite of you quilt, I love spending some holiday time in the cold weather so we can ski! We haven't been in years but are trying to workout when we can go next.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Favorite spot thus far would have to Maui. We went there for a wedding and it was just gorgeous!
ReplyDelete-carriechilton@gmail.com
My favourite spot is closer to home - Hawk's Nest. We rented a house for a week during the Christmas break and it was great with the kids. Can't wait to go again some day. Funny how "holiday" = "beach" in our minds, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteOur favorite holiday spot is my in-laws ranch up in the mountains. We go there all summer long, and sometimes in the winter.
ReplyDeletekell22 @ cox.net
My favorite vacation location is Lake Powell in Utah/Arizona. As a child, and now for my children, we spend some hot summer days on the lake, boating, skiing, swimming. I still remember waking up in the mornings and trying not to smile so my sunburnt lip wouldn't crack open. Fun times!
ReplyDeleteOh! I love that caravan park in Adelaide - my penpal is from Adelaide and we stayed there for her wedding.
ReplyDeleteAny holiday spot is a good one ;)
I love to camp on the beach and we often head up the coast a bit to Inskip Point, so pretty and you could be a million miles away. bliss.
x
This quilt reminds me of my favorite holiday spot, at Apollo Bay on Victoria's Great Ocean Road. We spent a week there in a caravan before Christmas each year when we were kids, and my brother got so hooked he now lives there! Thanks for the giveaway! bellgirlsblog (at) gmail [dot] com
ReplyDeleteIt's been so long since I've had a vacation, I think just about any spot would be a favorite spot at this point! I'm dreaming of a warm beach with a cool breeze....
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is lovely! I love to visit the Cape or coastal ME for vacation though it has been a long time for me!
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous quilt with beautiful fabrics, I'd love to have a go at making it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday would have to be Sorento on the Amalfi coast , Italy, delicious food, stunning scenery the most fantastic hotel with my brand new husband made it a honeymoon never to be forgotten.
robertadaw[at]live[dot]com
My favorite holiday spot is by the lake in Tennessee with the mountains in the background.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful, I can't wait to try one!! My favorite holiday was visiting the San Juan island off the Seattle coast. We watched the ocean, the whales and the cows. Bliss!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place for a summer vacation is The 1000 Islands in Upstate NY. Growing up I spent every summer there (my parents have a cottage 2 doors down from my Grandam) and even chose to waitress as a college student rather than "interning" like everyone else. Then my husband and I got married and moved to TX and The Islands was a whole lot harder to get to. 2.5 short years later we were both offerred transfers to Central NY that put us 1.5 hours from the River (think miles across, not your typical river)!! Our daughter (3.5) is a true River girl, chosing to stay there with Grammie and Grandpa rather than coming home. We hope the same love of the River comes with Baby Girl #2!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous quilt. I love it! I love visiting the St. Lawrence River for summer holiday.
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt. My fav vacation spot was always grandmas house
ReplyDeleteWe go to Hebgen Lake every summer. It is right by Yellowstone, so it is a great vacation spot!
ReplyDeletedeserae (at) gmail (dot) com
Lovely quilt design! My favorite holiday spot has to be Savannah GA.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, peaceful quilt; it certainly evokes the calm of the sea. Our family enjoys camping on San Juan Island, WA, where the orca whales swim right past the campsite!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the quilt...My favorite vacation spot is Myrtle Beach, SC. I love camping next to the dunes and hearing the waves crash all night.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt. I would love a chance to win the pattern and the fat quarter bundle.
ReplyDeletebveinotte@juno.com
I would very much like to win your giveaway! My favorite vacation spot is Yosemite, California, USA. It brings back memories of camping out as a child. Such a calming and beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabric! My favorite vacation spot is the beach Manuel Antonio in Costa Rica. It is so peaceful and relaxing! codyjkoenig@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteOh, just simply STUNNING! I love how this has turned out. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately with 3 kids and a lack of financial means we don't have a favourite holiday spot, per se. I do, however, take a mini holiday every time I visit my mum's farm. The beautiful bush, gum trees, peace and quiet, the peacocks running around, the slower pace...always makes me feel refreshed.
Thank you so much for this chance to win!
Aitutaki - one of the Cook Islands. When we went pre-children nearly 20 years ago it was an unspoilt South Pacific island. I googled it a few years ago and now it is triple the price and full of 'boutique' hotels. Sometimes it is better not to travel back in time but to just remember somewhere for what it was, not what it has become.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite places as a child was Grandma and Grandpa's. They lived in Canada so we only got to visit about once a year so it was always a real treat!
ReplyDeleteI've just started quilting in the past year and this quilt definitley caught my eye. It's gorgeous, being so light and beachy looking!
ReplyDeleteI remember as a child my favourite holiday spot was always the lake. Our family owns this little island and it was so always full of little treasures and tons of exploring. Now when I go I find it the most peaceful and relaxing place on the earth. :)
This turned out beautifully! I have such a crush on that sandpiper fabric, it's fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWe have two small kiddos so vacations are not what they used to be but our family loves going to the coast and playing in the sand and water. My son is content to stand in the oncoming waves and splashing for hours. And my daughter is thrilled to walk for miles along the beach with her little bucket collecting shells and rocks (and the occasional piece of beach glass for mommy).
My grandparents owned a cabin in the mountains a couple hours from our home. We'd spend many summer nights up there. Highlights for me were sleeping with all my cousins in the eight beds on the loft area, using the outhouse with the pink toilet seat (on the girl's side, of course) since there was no indoor plumbing, and getting water from the pump. Good times.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pattern and fabrics, by the way!
Our favorite vacation is to Hawaii, where we have a timeshare. We love to scuba dive and snorkel. Thus, Hawaii..and your quilt are perfect for us.

As a child, of course I loved Disneyland. As a parent, it's still fun, but by far my favorite vacation spot is Durango, CO. Beautiful trees and river, bike paths, plays to go to, little quilt shops, ice cream and fudge shops - we love it! ... Beautiful quilt, fabrics, and pattern!
ReplyDeleteiliketoquilt@hotmail.com
I absolutely love this quilt! And I've been dying to sew with some organics. :)
ReplyDeleteAs for my favorite vaca spot.....I'd love to rent a cottage somewhere for a few weeks. Anywhere that has electricity for my sewing machine plus a lake and some nice areas to hike. We talked about going to Door County WI this summer, but instead we are moving across the country! Maybe next year. ;)
Can I tell you where I really want to vacation? I want so badly to go to Hawaii and take a quilt class and eat fresh pinapple and drink a smoothie on the beach. Okay, and my favorite vacation spot that I actually have been to is always Washington state, where all of my family lives except me. ... miss them ... And thanks for the chance to win such darling fabrics!
ReplyDeletequiltmomadw@hotmail.com
Lovely quilt. My favourite vacation spot is a cabin across the lake and a five mile hike up a valley. Remote enough but familiar. There's a lake, a stream, lots of hikes nearby and sheer quiet. Thanks for a chance at the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love vacationing at the Oregon Coast! I live in Oregon so it's not a particularly far away vacation, but it's beautiful and there usually aren't many people. I love to walk along the beach with my dog.
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE FABRICS!
ReplyDeleteA FAVORITE BEACH SITE ON LAKE MICHIGAN NEAR FRANKLIN WAS A SPECIAL PLACE FOR US TO VISIT!
THANKS FOR SHARING,LOVE,LINDA
jldouglas@wispwest.net
I would LOVE to win this! The beach is my favorite vacation spot. I grew up near South Padre Island, Tx, USA and get back whenever I can.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! I've never done curved piecing but I'm tempted to try now. Your quilting really brings a sense of calm to it too. I'm sure your mother-in-law was tickled! My favorite holiday spot is Galveston, TX. Being a native Texan, this is the closest we can get to our own beach atmosphere. We take our family vacation there just about every year. The kids love it too. Not as nice as your beaches I'm sure, but it's home to us. Jenn
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt and would love to make one for myself, to take to MY favorite vacation spot, our cottage. We have an old fixer-upper on Lake Manitoba in Manitoba, Canada. The lake is 40 km across so it feels like the ocean, and is lined by beautiful sandy beaches where you can walk for miles. We just got back....and I miss it already! Winning this givaway would cheer me up :-)
